Model, Redraw the Edges of Your Self

Published 2022, Poster Series, Back to Earth Exhibition, Serpentine Galleries, London, UK

“When I was working on Come Home Again, I drew insects, mammals, fish, birds, amphibians, fungi, and plants from the moment I woke up until I went to sleep. I started to dream about them, and animals continue to populate my dreams. Redraw the Edges of Your Self marks this awakening at the edges of my hand and mind. In the way people get a tattoo to mark a significant personal shift, this collage is like a paper-and-ink tattoo let loose beyond the boundaries of my skin.”

—Es Devlin

A person dressed in black stands in front of a large-scale artwork in a rectangular frame; the artwork is a paper sculpture of cutouts and black-and-white illustrations of realistically rendered birds forming the shape of a hand; white glowing light emphasizes the different layers and protruding cutouts.
