Model, Infinite Library

Conceived 2017, Competition Entry for Redesign of Old Street Roundabout, London, UK

“For a competition to redesign London’s Old Street roundabout, I imagined a library. Developing our experiments with poetry-generating algorithms, we conceived a spherical, labyrinthine sculpture that would display a collective poem generated from words donated by everyone who passed through. We planned to invite artists, musicians, scientists, and poets to compile reading lists each week. Within the space of the infinite open-air library, we wanted passengers to be able to read every book ever written.”

A glowing intricate sphere with many rectilinear structures inside glows against a dark background of city buildings. Some white handwritten text is in the foreground.
