Model, Les Troyens

Staged 2012, Royal Opera House, London, UK

“The opera Les Troyens is based on Virgil’s epic poem The Aeneid. It presents war and peace as two sides of civilization constantly chasing one another. This is an early sketch model of the Trojan horse. It was realized as a massive 7-meter sculpture formed of weapons. This gesture of amnesty proved treacherous when its mane burst into flames.”
