Studio

The exhibition begins with an immersive film in a recreation of Devlin’s London-based studio. Models, books, and relics from past projects line the studio shelves, and drawings and studio notes paper the walls. Blank sketchbooks are scattered on a work table, which is surrounded by chairs. All of Devlin’s projects originate on pieces of paper in her studio.

A projected film begins on the table, filling the sketchbooks with annotated texts and flipping their pages, while Devlin’s voice narrates. As the film progresses, the projection transitions to the wall in front of audiences. The film culminates in an invitation from Devlin: “We can decide together, right now, that this studio wall is not really a wall, but a piece of paper—which we can tear open and walk through together.”

The wall splits and audiences are welcomed to enter the exhibition.
