I was a student at Boston College in the fall of 1984. I was working part-time at Saks Fifth Avenue when I spotted the most amazing WilliWear coat! When I tried it on, I fell in love with its beautiful simplicity.

It reminded me of an oversized choir robe with its wide baggy sleeves. I still have it today. Even though the fabric is very thin, the coat is incredibly warm. The neck buttons up very high and can be worn scrunched, or you can flip it down like a turtleneck. I am a plus-sized woman and get a kick out of the fact that the coat is a junior’s size small.

In 1986, I was modeling in New York City, and my agent set up a test shoot to build my portfolio. I brought along several clothing options to shoot in, though the photographer mentioned that he loved the coat I wore to the studio that day. The makeup artist loaned me her scarf, and voila!
