RONALD RAEL is the Eva Li Memorial Chair of Architecture and Chair of the Department of Art Practice at the University of California, Berkeley. His creative practice is connected to multigenerational land-based traditions that combine Indigenous and traditional materials and processes with contemporary technologies, which address the contrasts, contradictions, and complexities of othered subjects, ranging from people to materials and places in contemporary society.
