Calvin Tsao (American, born Hong Kong, 1952) and Zack McKown (American, b. 1952) strive to demonstrate that environments are best conceived as a whole, regardless of scale. Their transparent lipstick case for Shu Uemura reveals the relationship between an intimate personal object and how much it is used. The partners envisioned Suntec City, a 6-million-square-foot, mixed-use development in Singapore, as an urban living room. The lobby of Bangkok’s Nai Lert Park Hotel is an interiorization of the urban setting.
